Several area artists in Landscape/Cityscape show in Lima

ArtSpace/Lima announces the opening of Landscape/Cityscape, a group invitational exhibit in The Ellen Nelson Gallery, Friday, Sept. 16.

The inspiration for the exhibit centers on the fact that both landscape and cityscape have an art historical importance dating back to the beginnings of art itself, and that today’s artists, in choosing to work in one of the genres, of necessity add to and alter its dimensions and possibilities.  Landscape/Cityscape proposes a contemporary venue for new perspectives on ancient forms.

Landscape/Cityscape presents the work of 19 artists from around the state of Ohio who have focused on one of the two genres in their work.  Artists in the show include:  Beth Basista, Andi Baumgartner, Laura Barnhardt Corle, Jeff Doseck, Tom Emerine, Doug Fiehly, Nancy Frankenfield, Cathy Huber, Dan Knepper, Jodi Knoch, Linda Lehman, Chris Leeper, Jim Lipps, Craig Lloyd, Marie Louden-Hanes, Scott Rose, Mary Lou Schepp, Leslie Rohr Scherer, and Becky Swora.  There will be works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, silverpoint, and photography.

A reception for the artists, their friends, and the general public will be held on Friday, Sept. 16, 6:30-8:30 pm.  The exhibit will run through Oct. 29.

ArtSpace/Lima is a not-for-profit arts organization with a mission to promote the arts in northwest Ohio and to provide artists with a venue to present and to sell their work. ArtSpace/Lima is supported in part by a generous grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
