September 13, 2016
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University senior Jake Harmon (Van Wert/Crestview) has been named to the d3football.com Team of the Week following his standout performance in Bluffton's 37-31 win at Trine under the lights on Saturday, Sept. 10. It marks the fourth time in the past three years that a member of Coach Dorrel's defense has earned this recognition!
Sophomore ISAAC ZICKAFOOSE (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following his outstanding performance in Bluffton's 44-0 win over Anderson University on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015. Current linebackers coach Brad Swavel (Marion/Ridgedale) was named to the D3football Team of the Week after he finished with nine tackles to go along with an interception, a forced fumble, a breakup and a fumble recovery in Bluffton's 31-17 victory at Rose-Hulman on October 11, 2014. Ollie Moorer (Warrensville Heights/Warrensville Hts.) made it back-to-back weeks when he lit up Earlham with four fourth quarter sacks and a forced fumble in Bluffton's 24-22 win at Earlham two years ago.
Harmon forced a fumble and recovered two, all on Trine's first three possessions, as Bluffton went up 14-0 on Saturday. The Beavers secured a 37-31 win, their first-ever win over the Thunder, leading to their first 2-0 start since 2004. The senior linebacker led the Beavers with 12 stops, including four solos.
Bluffton will host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1:30 as they enter Heartland Conference play looking for just their second win over the Lions since 2001. Come out and support your Beavers!
