Bluffton University will host a concert featuring its Camerata Singers, University Chorale and Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The performance, part of Homecoming weekend activities at Bluffton, is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships during intermission.

Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music, conducts Camerata Singers, a select, 27-voice chamber choir. Two of the pieces that Camerata Singers will perform feature a solo instrument obligato.  Eddie Martin, a sophomore from Goshen, Ind., will improvise on tenor saxophone on "Evening Prayer" and Aaron Johnson, a senior from Goshen, Ind., will play trumpet on "Joshua". 

University Chorale, a 56-member mixed ensemble, is conducted by Jonathan Wey, visiting conductor. The University Chorale selections feature a rich blend of traditional American folk tunes, hymns and arrangements by such composers as Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein.

Pianist Ana Yoder Coulter will accompany both choirs. 

Dr. Roy Couch, assistant professor of music, conducts the Concert Band, which includes nearly 40 student members. The band program will include an arrangement of chorale preludes by William P. Latham, Scenes from “the Louvre” by Norman Dello Joio and a rousing offering from David Holsinger.
