Girls' soccer: Bluffton knocks off tough Liberty Benton 3-2
The Lady Pirate soccer team hosted rival Liberty Benton in a non-conference game at Steinmetz Field Tuesday evening.
The Eagles landed the first goal 22 minutes into the first half, and the Pirates responded 5 minutes later when Senior Sarah Theisen hit the back of the net with her first of 3 goals for the night. Half time score was 1-1.
Six minutes into the second half, Theisen had a breakaway pulling the LB goalie way out of the net, and Theisen shot it right past her for her second goal.
LB responded 10 minutes later, tying the score at 2-2.
But the Pirates came away with the win when Theisen scored her third goal with less than 3 minutes left in the half. Final score 3-2, giving the Lady Pirates an overall record of 8-4; 4-0 in the Northwest Conference.
Kelli Leugers and Ana Spiridigliozzi each had assists in the game.
Senior Captain and Goalkeeper Jadyn Barhorst had more than 15 saves.
