Girls' soccer sectional final: It's Bluffton 2 - Allen East 1
Bluffton hosted the Allen East Mustangs for the second time this year in the Division III sectional semifinal game on Tuesday night.
Both teams battled significant wind on Steinmetz Field in front of a packed stadium.
The score was 0-0 at the end of the first half, but the the Lady Pirates managed to land goal 1 at the 33 minute mark of the second half, when Sophomore Averey Rumor played the ball up to Senior Sarah Theisen, who dribbled up field and hit the back of the net.
Four minutes later, Senior Captain and Goalkeeper kicked the ball past the midline to Theisen once again, who sunk goal 2.
After a lengthy pause in play due to injury, the game resumed with 23 minutes on the clock, and 6 minutes in Allen East landed their first goal.
But the Lady Pirates stopped all further progress by the Mustangs, and the final score was 2-1. Bluffton will face off Saturday against the winner of the Mansfield Christian/Ashland Crestview game.
