Betty A. Barrere (Engle) 1920 - 2016
Betty A. Barrere (Engle), died at 3:12 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1920, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Arthur and Rilla (Files) Mooney. They both preceded her in death.
On March 26, 1939, she married Philip Barrere, he preceded her in death, Oct. 30, 2001.
Betty is survived by three sons: Philip William "Bill" (Nancy) Barrere of Port Clinton, Don (Katrina) Barrere of Houston, Texas and Doug (Vicki) Barrere of Lima; two daughters: Phyllis "Sudy" (Mike) Reichenbach of Bluffton and Marilyn (Tony) Carter of Indianapolis, Ind.; 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one half brother: Layton Mooney and two half sisters: Bertha Woodard and Romain Lemmlie.
Mrs. Barrere was a graduate of Van Wert High School. Betty, along with her husband Phil "Cookie", owned and operated Phil's Pastry Shop in Columbus Grove, for 35 years.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Bluffton, a former member of the Columbus Grove Christian Church, Friends of the Library, Bowers Slusser American Legion Auxiliary, Post #516, and the Child Study Club all of Columbus Grove.
Services will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Chaplain Bill Herr will officiate with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove.
Family and friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Grove Christian Church, Columbus Grove Public Library, or the Mennonite Memorial Home Communities.
