Bluffton police had 274 calls for service in October

Vehicles on east side of village reported ended and money taken

Here is the October Bluffton police report. During the month police had 274 calls for service.

3rd - Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a 100 E. Elm St. residence. 

4th - A Riley St. resident reported finding a pellet gun. 

5th - Police arrested James White, Jr, 42 Lima, for DUS following a traffic stop on N. Main St.   

10th  - A Garmatter St. resident reported unknown persons had entered his unlocked garage and stole items sometime in the past month.     

11th - Police responded to a Breaking and Entering complaint at the university. 

11th - Officers stood by at the request of a university official while a safety and security check was completed at one of the dormitories. 

12th - Officers responded to a Cherry St. residence in response to a mental health complaint. 

13th - A university student reported another student destroying a laptop computer after a disagreement. 

13th - Police responded to car/deer traffic crash in the 800 block of County Line Road. 

14th - Officers responded to Bluffton Hospital in regard to a drug overdose that had happened elsewhere in the village. 

15th - Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of Main and Cherry streets.  While investigating the crash it was determined that the driver of the at-fault vehicle, Keith Keeler, 33, Bluffton was OVI.  Mr. Keeler was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead and OVI and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court. 

17th - An Ottawa resident reported a theft of some of her property while it was being stored at a motel on State Route 103.  After a short investigation it was determined that the items were still in the room and had not been stolen and were returned to the owner. 

18th - Officers investigated a suspicious vehicle at the village park and found the driver to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Russell Ellis, 18, Findlay, was cited for the drug possession and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.     

19th - Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 100 block of S. Main St.  Peggy Folk, 57, Lima, was issued a citation for a Right of Way violation and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.    

24th - A Susan Dr. resident reported a domestic dispute. 

24th - A N. Main St. business reported a vehicle had been stolen from their property. 

24th - A N. Lawn Ave. resident reported a bicycle had been stolen from his residence.

25th - A S. Main St. resident filed a menacing complaint. 

26th - Officers responded to a private property, non-injury traffic crash at the nature preserve.   

26th - A State Route 103 resident reported being harassed online. 

26th - Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of County Line Road and State Route 103.  Shawn Lopata, 45, Lima, was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

26th - Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 400 block of Cherry St.  Owen Bischoff, 18, Bluffton, was issued a citation for Improper Starting and Backing.  The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court. 

27th - A credit card was found in a parking lot at a Commerce Lane business. 

29th - Several residents on the east side of the village reported their unlocked vehicles had been entered and money and other items had been stolen. 

29th - Officers responded to a report of a Domestic Violence at a N. Main St residence.  Steven Niese, 33, Bluffton was arrested on a charge of Domestic Violence and the case is pending in Lima Municipal Court. 

30th - A S. Lawn Ave. resident reported several items stolen from an unlocked garage and vehicle.

31st - A Washington St. resident reported a theft of tools from an unlocked storage shed.
