January 17, 2017
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University's Rachel Beining (Ottoville) averaged a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds per game as the Beavers went 3-0 with a home win over Franklin and road victories at Manchester and Hanover last week. Beining was the last Bluffton women's basketball player to earn HCAC POTW honors (December 14, 2015).
The senior post tallied eight steals, four assists, and two blocks while hitting 16-of-28 (57.1 percent) from the field. She also went over the 1,000 point mark for her career in the win at Hanover on Saturday. Beining sandwiched a pair of double-doubles around a 12-point, nine-board performance in Bluffton's 57-29 win at Manchester on Wednesday night.
Beining ranks 2nd in the Heartland Conference with a 53.4 FG percentage and she is fifth in the HCAC with 6.9 RPG. The four-year starter is just 10 rebounds away from all-time leader Kim Miller's 697 career caroms.
The Beavers play host to rival Defiance College on Wednesday, Jan. 18, for a 6 p.m. tip-off, before they make a quick return trip to Franklin on Saturday at 4 p.m.
