Here's this week's free "Keeping Activity" opportunities at BFR
Bluffton Family Recreation is in the midst of its winter’s Keeping Active program of free activities.
From Jan. 16 through Feb. 24 BFR offers free fitness, physical activity, nutrition and general wellness events for youth through seniors, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
Here's this week's free programming schedule:
Monday - Jan. 23
• Free class All-Star Workout
8:30-9:30 a.m.
• Free play - MS/HS soccer
3:30-5 p.m.
Tuesday - Jan. 24
• Free walking
5:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
Wednesday - Jan. 25
• Free walking
5:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
Friday - Jan. 27
• Free open play
11 a.m.-noon
• Free Walking
5:30 a.m-9 p.m.
• Free Yoga Fit
“Each winter since 2004 BFR has provided these six weeks of wellness programming for individuals and families. We are happy to partner with St. Rita’s Medical Center again this year,” he said.
PLUS YOUTH PROGRAMMING UNDERWAY
Several January and February programs for youth are also underway and there's still time to join.
Here’s the class update:
• Rookie sports - Tuesdays, 4:15-5 p.m.
For ages 4-6, youngsters will play a variety of sports
• K-3 basketball - Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
For youth from Kindergarten, first, second and third grades
• Tiny Tots – Fridays, 10-10:30 a.m.
18 months to 5-year-olds, work on gross motor skills with some learning in each class
• Open Play - Wednesdays and Fridays, 11-noon
The arena is open for parents and child time.
SWIM LESSONS
Thursdays - lessons at Comfort Inn pool
• Aqua kids - 5:30-6 p.m.
4-6 year-olds who can float for 5 seconds on their own
• Swim I - 6-6:45 p.m.
K-3rd grades, based on Level 1-3 American Red Cross standards
• Swim II - 6-6:45 p.m.
1st-4th grade, stronger swimmers who have learned how to float and can swim to 15 meters by themselves
• Little Swimmers – 6:45-7:30 p.m.
3- to 6-year-olds, parents and child class
• Splash Time – 7:30-8 p.m.
6-month to 3-years-old; parent and child class
