Meet Georgia Owens, Icon's BHS artist of the month
Georgia Owen, Bluffton High School junior, is the Icon's BHS art student of the month. She has taken Art 1 and Design 1 class.
"I enjoy art because it feels good working on a project so long and when it is finished there is a sense of accomplishment," she said. "It is fun to be able to express my ability in doing what I like."
Following high school she hopes to study to become a pediatric surgeon.
According to Vickie Garmon, BHS art teacher, Georgia won first place in printmaking at the Kewpee High School Art Invitational held at Art Space Lima, which is open to the public through April 8.
Other Bluffton students whose works are accepted in the show include Alyssa Casemier, who won third place in jewelry.
Isaac Andreas had two pieces accepted and the following students had one piece each accepted: Tabbi Geiger, Cory Westfall, Aubrey Snider, Autumn Gesler and Darby Prichard.
