When you are not feeling well...
Bluffton Hospital provides this feature on the importance of primary care providers (PCP). If you don't already have a PCP call the Blanchard Valley Medical Provider Physician Referral Line at 419-422.APPT (2778).
When you are not feeling well, it is important to contact your primary care provider (PCP) for guidance first.
This is the best place to receive care for common illnesses, minor injuries or routine wellness checks. Your PCP can be your partner in managing your health over a period of time, making chronic conditions less symptomatic.
A PCP knows your full medical history and understands your health and your healthcare goals. He or she knows that you are trying to drop another 20 pounds, and that you have a bad reaction to a particular antibiotic.
A PCP will talk through issues like nutrition and stress management, and take the time to review your latest bloodwork results with you.
Call Your PCP First
• Primary care offices can offer same-day appointments during regular office hours for minor illnesses such as colds, flu, migraines, sore throats, earaches, back pain, minor cuts, burns, etc. Just give your PCP office a call.
• Remember to see your PCP for regular physicals, prescription refills, vaccinations, health screenings and medical advice.
• Appointments at the office of your PCP, whether sick or a wellness check, are billed as regular office visits.
PCP offices are usually open during regular business hours, but offices may have extended hours and weekend appointments. Just ask.
In order for you and your family to receive the best possible care, you need to make sure that you’re in the right place and are making the right decisions. Always start with your PCP prior to receiving care at any other facility.
They have your best interests at heart.
If you don’t already have a PCP, please call the BVMP Physician Referral Line at 419.422.APPT (2778).
