BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior JAYLEN VON SOSSAN (Ottawa-Ottawa-Glandorf) has been named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week. He is the first Beaver to be named an HCAC Player of the Week since Michael Alexander was Hitter of the Week on April 13, 2015.

Von Sossan went 1-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA in 8.2 innings. He fanned seven and walked just one while holding the opposition to a .194 batting average. The senior standout tossed 7.2 innings and gave up just one unearned run on Saturday, helping Bluffton clinch the Heartland Conference series against Anderson.

The zero earned runs on Saturday helped Von Sossan drop his ERA to 2.16 this season (5th in the HCAC) and he is up to 18 strikeouts in just 16.2 innings pitched.

Bluffton travels to Richmond, Ind., for a matchup with the league favorite Earlham College Quakers on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. before the Beavers welcome Manchester for their second straight home Heartland Conference series this weekend.
