University of Findlay spring horse sale April 29
The University of Findlay holds its 13th annual spring horse sale Saturday, April 29, at the University of Findlay’s Western Farm in the Dale Wilkinson Arena, 14700 U.S. Route 68 south of Findlay.
The sale draws buyers from multiple states, and presents prospects and finished horses for potential buyers. Demonstrations begin at 10 a.m. with the sale following at noon.
Approximately 50 horses, trained under the guidance of the university’s instructors, will be offered for sale. Two and three-year-old western pleasure and all around prospects as well as multiple other disciplines are available.
As part of the Western curriculum, graduating seniors will hold a western pleasure class, the Clark Bradley Pleasure Futurity, for their two-year-old futurity prospects on Friday, April 28. These horses will be featured in the annual sale as well.
The sale is organized by the equine marketing class. A portion of the proceeds will go towards scholarships, along with the purchase of new prospects for equestrian students to work with in the coming semester. In 2016, the event provided approximately $50,000 toward scholarships to select UF equine students.
Bloodlines featured in this year’s sale include but are not limited to: Machine Made, VS Flatline, Good To Know, Nite Moves, A Dream Remembered, The Invitation, Repeated In Red, Charlie Hilfiger, Don’t Skip Zip, Extremely Hot Chips, and Only In The Moonlight.
Additional information, including the featured horse of the week, photos, videos, an event catalogue, and more details about other equestrian events at UF’s western farm are available at www.findlayequestrianevents.com or on the University of Findlay western Facebook page.
