Bluffton police have 440 calls for service in March

Including three arrests for outstanding warrants

Tyler Hochstetler, Bluffton police department sergeant released the March police docket. During the month police at 440 calls for service.

March 2

  • A Jenera resident reported her vehicle was damaged while at a Commerce Lane business.

March 5

  • Officers responded to a non-injury traffic crash in the 600 block of Bentley Road. Larry R. Harper, 62, Johnson City, Tennessee, was issued a citation for improper starting and backing. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

March 7

  • Officers responded to an injury traffic crash in the 100 block of South Main Street. Abby R. Peterson, 20, Ada, was issued a citation for assured clear distance ahead. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

March 8

  • A Quarry Drive business reported someone passed them a bad check.

March 13

  • A State Route 103 resident reported a subject she had a protection order against has been attempting to contact her vie telephone.
  • Officers responded to a Lake Street residence in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

March 14

  • A Garmatter Street resident reported a subject she had a protection order against has been attempting to contact her via telephone.

March 15

  • A South Main Street resident reported his ex-wife was in violation of their child custody agreement.

March 16

  • Police conducted a pedestrian stop in the 100 block of East Elm Street. After identifying the subject, it was found that the subject had outstanding warrants. Police arrested Brian C. Sheldrick, 32, Bluffton, on an outstanding warrant out of Hancock County.

March 17

  • A Lake Street resident reported a subject she had a protection order against was using friends in an attempt to contact her via telephone which violated the conditions of the order.

March 19

  • A Lake Street resident reported a subject she had a protection order against was using family in an attempt to contact her via social media which violated the conditions of the order.
  • Police arrested Jon A. Copple, 22, Taylor, Michigan, for OVI following a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Main Street for a speeding violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

March 22

  • A State Route 103 business reported that it was the victim of a quick-change scam.

March 24

  • A Delphos resident reported his vehicle was damaged while parked in a South Main Street parking lot.

March 25

  • Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Main Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint. As a result of the domestic violence complaint, officers learned the suspect had a self-inflicted knife wound and was treated at Bluffton Hospital before being transferred to St. Rita’s Medical Center.
  • A Pinebrook Drive resident reported her property was damaged the previous night.
  • Officers arrested Megan M. Russell, 22, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Harmon Road for expired license plates. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

March 26

  • Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Main Street in reference to a domestic dispute.
  • An Arlington resident reported a suspicious person was following her while she made multiple different stops in town.

March 28

  • University officials reported drug paraphernalia was found on campus property.

March 29

  • A Findlay resident reported that while she was parked at a North Main Street business, her vehicle was damaged by an unknown suspect.
  • A Rawson resident reported that her old checks, issued by a Bluffton bank, were being used without her permission.
  • A Lawn Avenue resident reported a suspicious person was walking between houses and looking into vehicles in the area.

March 30

  • Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Main Street in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

March 31

  • Following a traffic stop in the South Main Street area, Durand C. Finch, 49, Lima, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Hancock County.
  • Following a pedestrian stop in the 200 block of North Main Street, officers arrested Joseph L. Gossman, 23, Columbus Grove, on an outstanding warrant out of Allen County.
