Earlham wraps up sweep with 9-1 win over baseball

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton University baseball team dropped a 9-1 decision at Earlham College on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Bluffton fell to 13-19 overall and 6-14 in the Heartland Conference, while Earlham improved to 19-11 and 14-6 in the HCAC.
Clayton Siders (Delaware/Worthington Christian) singled and scored in the top of the second, putting Bluffton up 1-0. Earlham answered back with three runs in the home half and three more in the third for a commanding 6-1 lead heading to the fourth.
The Quakers added another tally in the fourth and two more in the sixth for a 9-1 final, keeping the Quakers within a game of HCAC-leading Rose-Hulman.
Senior Taylor Gambrell (Bowling Green) gave up all nine runs, six earned, in five innings of work. He struck out three and walked three. Dante D'Andrea (Westerville/North) and Cam Clark (Westerville/North) combined to toss three shutout frames in relief.
Bluffton makes its final road trip of the year when the Beavers head to Hanover College on Friday, April 28. The first contest of the three-game set is slated for 4 p.m.
