McElroy named First Team All-Central Region

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Junior JOSIE MCELROY (Mt. Orab/Western Brown) has been named All-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). This is the second year in a row that McElroy has been named All-Central Region. It marks the eighth NFCA All-Region selection for the Beavers and McElroy’s fourth post-season award in her career at Bluffton.
Josie McElroy put together an outstanding junior season setting individual season records while also moving up the career record book. This year McElroy’s batting average was .404, putting her 12th on the single-season list. McElroy had a slugging percentage of .725, which ranks as third best on the single-season list. Her 17 doubles this season are second on the single-season list and three more than she smacked as a sophomore. This year McElroy pounded six home runs, tied for 7th on the single-season list. She was also ninth in most total bases for a season with 79. McElroy's five doubles were tied for third in the conference. She finished with a slugging percentage of .553 which was 8th in the conference.
After a stellar junior season, McElroy now sits atop the career record books with a .415 batting average and a .718 slugging percentage. Her .452 on-base percentage is 4th on the career list. She also tops the doubles list with 42 two-baggers. McElroy has 140 career hits, giving her the eighth most all-time. McElroy has 20 career home runs, moving her into a tie for first with another season to play. Her 242 total bases are third on the all-time list, just 20 shy of the all-time mark of 262 set by Lindsey Miller. McElroy is fourth all-time with 98 RBI, only 12 away from Lindsey Miller's school mark of 110.
