Evelyn Luginbuhl was a retired English teacher in Bluffton schools
Evelyn Luginbuhl, 94, died July 10, 2017, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Evelyn was born Jan. 25, 1923, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late Russell and Lula (Smith) Johnson. On May 26, 1946, she married Darvin Luginbuhl who preceded her in death on April 26, 2013.
Evelyn graduated from Holmes-Liberty High School in Bucyrus and later received her bachelor's degree in education from Bluffton College. Evelyn was a junior high teacher for Bluffton schools until her retirement. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, the Telesis Club and Women's Garden Club both in Bluffton. Evelyn volunteered for 25 years at the Et Cetera Shop in Bluffton.
Survivors include a son, William Luginbuhl of Chicago, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Karen Luginbuhl of Bluffton; five grandchildren, Alison (Kevin) King, Ben (Alex Roth) Luginbuhl, Ashley, Kristen and Kathryn Luginbuhl; and two great-grandchildren, Milena and Madelyn King.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Gregg J Luginbuhl.
Services will be held at noon., Friday, July 14, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor George O'Reilly officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton following the service. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church or Et Cetera Shop.
