ArtSpace Lima hosts Sunday reception
ArtSpace/Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima, will host an artist’s reception for Chris Leeper, whose watercolors and oils are currently on exhibit in the Ellen Nelson Gallery. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will be on Sunday, July 22, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
Leeper is a prominent Ohio painter and watercolorist, resident in Canfield. He is a member of the adjunct faculty in the Department of Art at Youngstown State University. He served as president of the Ohio Watercolor Society (2008-2012) and has conducted workshops for the Lima Area Watercolor Society. His last appearance at ArtSpace was with several works in the Landscape/Cityscape exhibit in the fall of 2016.
Linda Lehman, member of the ArtSpace Board of Trustees, characterizes Leeper’s work: “Whether Chris is working in oils, acrylics or watercolor, painting in his studio or en plein air, he is a master at achieving a sense of atmosphere in his work. He creates sunlight that ‘feels’ hot, or shadows that chill the viewer or even creates the sense of a muggy summer night. He accomplishes these temperatures through his skillful use of warm and cool colors and a mastery of value.”
ArtSpace/Lima is a not-for-profit arts organization with a mission to promote the arts in northwest Ohio and to provide artists with a venue to present and to sell their work. ArtSpace/Lima is supported in part by a generous grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
