Volleyball falls to ONU in straight sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team dropped a three-set decision (25-16, 25-19, 25-10) to local rival Ohio Northern on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the Sommer Center. Bluffton fell to 4-5 on the season while Ohio Northern improved 7-2.
Junior Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) handed out 23 assists and added seven digs. The Beavers were led by freshman Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) with seven kills. Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) chipped in six kills and 10 digs.
Senior Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) led the Bluffton defense with a match-high 18 digs from her libero position.
The Polar Bears out-hit Bluffton .286 to .098 and they totaled 45 kills to just 29 for the Beavers.
Bluffton is back in the Sommer Center this weekend for the first-ever Fall Classic. The Beavers tip with Trine at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 before tackling Allegheny and Marietta on Saturday. Click here to follow all the action on Friday and Saturday!
