Volleyball downs Trine in straight sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team took down a talented Trine University squad in three sets on day one of the Bluffton Fall Classic. The home team evened its record at 5-5, snapping a four-match skid in the process. Trine slipped to 4-4 after falling in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-20).
The Bluffton defense was on fire all night. Sophomore Carley Lester (Chesapeake) led the Beavers with a match-high five blocks. Senior Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) tallied 20 digs, moving into 4th place all-time with 1,777 career pickups! Junior Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) was also in double figures with 10 digs.
Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) contributed 10 digs to go along with her career-high 19 spikes and .326 hitting percentage. Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) chipped in 13 digs and 25 assists for another double double. Freshman Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) added seven
kills for a .217 hitting percentage.
The Beavers jump right back into action on Saturday at 11 a.m. when Bluffton takes on Allegheny before a 1 p.m. showdown with Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta. Come out and fill up the Sommer Center on day two of the Bluffton University Fall Classic!
