Forum featuring LA Times writer
Marisa Gerber, staff writer for the Los Angeles Times, will share “Telling True Stories in the Era of Fake News” during an 11 a.m. Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall.
Gerber will share her experiences of telling truthful stories, particularly in the context of covering the criminal justice system. She covers Los Angeles County’s criminal courts for the newspaper. Before joining the Los Angeles Times in 2012, Gerber reported for the New York Times, OC Weekly and the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson.
Gerber was also part of the reporting team that won a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting for exceptional reporting of the San Bernardino mass shooting. The terrorist attack left 14 people dead and 24 injured.
