University concert band performance Oct. 8
Bluffton University will host a concert featuring its Concert Band at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, in Yoder Recital Hall.
The performance, part of Homecoming weekend activities at Bluffton, is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken for music scholarships during intermission.
Dr. Roy Couch, assistant professor of music, conducts the concert band. This year’s fall concert will feature the piece, “Symphonic Suite for Band” by Clifton Williams, a well-known composer, conductor and teacher who taught for years at the Eastman School of Music. Other selections include “Southern Hymn” by Samuel Hazo, “A Golden Celebration” by Brant Karrick, “Brighton Beach,” a concert march by William Latham, “Skyline” by Frank Gulino and “Old Churches” by Michale Colgrass.
