Volleyball tames Grizzlies in three quick sets

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team needed just an hour and five minutes to dispatch Franklin College in three quick sets on Friday, Oct. 20, after the line judges made their grand entrance. Franklin slipped to 10-13 and 0-7 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton improved to 15-10 and 5-2 in the HCAC.
Bluffton limited the visitors to 25 points through the first two sets (25-11, 25-14) before a 25-21 victory in the clincher. The Beavers finished with six aces and 40 kills against just 11 errors, hitting a formidable .236 for the match.
Senior Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) continued her assault on the opposition, slamming home 15 kills with just two errors. Signal-caller Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) doled out 26 assists for the victors.
Picking up a game-high 22 digs was senior Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) who is now just 12 digs away from all-time leader Brittany Roth and her 2,108 pickups! Juniors Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) and Courtney Zimpfer (Jackson Center) added 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
The Beavers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 25, when they travel to Manchester University for a 7 p.m. matchup
