Illegal dumping complaint, drug paraphernalia, hit-skip accident among police report

Bluffton police reported 549 calls for service during October. Of those calls 37 were reportable offenses and seven were traffic crashes, according to Tyler Hochstetler, police sergeant. The report follows:

October 2

  • Officers received an illegal dumping complaint from a Spring Street maintenance department worker.

October 3

  • Officers responded to a State Route 103 business in reference to a private property crash.
  • Officers arrested Eric E. Greene, 49, Bluffton for OVI, driving under suspension, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia and making false statements following a traffic stop in the area of Riley Street near Spring Street. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

October 4

  • An Anna Circle resident reported suspicious activity on his credit card.
  • Officers arrested Demetrius C. Terry, 19, Columbus, Ohio, for OVI following a traffic stop in the area of Bentley Road at Elm Street for a stop sign violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

October 6

  • A Salome Circle resident reported items were stolen from his vehicle during the overnight hours.
  • Officers responded to a North Lawn Avenue residence in reference to an assault complaint.
  • Officers responded to the area of State Route 103 near Commerce Lane for a non-injury traffic crash. Jeffery A. Vennekotter, 52, Kalida, Ohio, was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

October 7

  • Officers responded to a North Lawn Avenue residence in reference to an assault complaint.

October 9

  • A Luise Circle resident reported suspicious activity on his credit card.

October 12

  • A university employee reported to police that they had found drug paraphernalia on campus.
  • Officers took a report of a person who was abandoned after a medical emergency while visiting town.
  • Officers took a telecommunications harassment report from a university student.

October 13

  • Officers responded to a Riley Street residence in reference to a barking dog complaint.

October 15

  • A North Dixie Highway business owner reported that a trailer he had left at a site had been removed and disposed of.

October 17

  • An Airport Drive employee reported that a co-worker has been verbally and physically abusive towards other employees and a cat that resides on the property.
  • Officers took a bad check complaint from a Lima resident.
  • Officers arrested Alan E. Valentine, 56, Bluffton, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of County Line Road near College Avenue for an equipment violation. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
  • Officers arrested Aaron T. Butler, Ada, Ohio for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of State Route 103 near Pocono Drive. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

October 18

  • Officers responded to the 100 block of Riley Street in reference to a non-injury hit/skip crash. The crash is still under investigation.

October 19

  • A Cherry Street resident reported suspicious activity on his credit card.
  • Officers responded to the area of State Route 103 near Carroll’s Avenue in reference to an injury traffic crash. Mark D. Mason, 58, Maumee, Ohio, was issued a citation for Failure to Yield the Right of Way. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

October 20

  • A South Main Street resident reported that while riding his bicycle in the area of Cherry Street and Vance Street he was chased by a dog.
  • A South Main Street resident reported that while at a friend’s house, he and another person got into a verbal argument where threats were made.
  • A State Route 103 resident reported his property was damaged by a tractor trailer.

October 21

  • Officers arrested Alyssa L. Rupple, 22, Findlay, Ohio for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 100 block of State Route 103. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
  • Officers conducted a traffic stop and, upon contact with the driver, observed the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The driver was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

October 22

  • Officers arrested Jeffrey A. Zeigler, 25, Lima, Ohio, for OVI and driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of Jefferson Street near Vance Street for a stop sign violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

October 23

  • A South Main Street business reported to police that numerous debit and credit cards had been compromised and had been in contact with the United States Secret Service, Toledo Office, to assist with the incident.
  • Officers received a report of a fight that occurred at the high school.
  • Officers responded to the 70 block of State Route 103 in reference to a non-injury traffic crash. Grace I. Cramer, 81, Bluffton, was issued a citation for Assured Clear Distance Ahead. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

October 26

  • Officers responded to a Cherry Street residence in reference to a Findlay resident who reported that her vehicle was damaged by an intoxicated acquaintance of hers.

October 27

  • Officers arrested Terry Follas, 49, Lima, Ohio on an outstanding warrant out of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Kibler Street, officers issued the driver of the vehicle a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
  • Officers responded to the area of Jefferson Street at Main Street for a non-injury traffic crash. Alice R. Ramseyer, 88, Bluffton, was issued a citation for Failure to Yield the Right of Way. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

October 30

  • Officers arrested Nicoya S. Darby, 30, Lima, Ohio, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Main Street. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

October 31

  • Officers arrested Kayl K. Aller, 26, Bluffton, for OVI, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop in the area of Bentley Road near Gratz Road for a speeding violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
  • Following a traffic stop in the area of State Route 103 and Citizens Parkway, officers issued the driver of the vehicle a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.
  • Officers responded to the 700 block of South Main Street in reference to a non-injury hit/skip traffic crash. The crash is still under investigation.
