Bluffton University names softball coach
Bluffton University has named Amanda DeMoine as its head softball coach.
DeMoine has seven years of experience coaching in the NCAA, plus an additional four years of playing experience at Salisbury University, a top DIII program. During spring 2017, she served as an assistant coach at Coppin State University (Baltimore, Md.). Prior to that, she was an assistant coach at Susquehanna University (Selinsgrove, Pa.) for the 2015-16 season and an assistant coach at Stevenson University (Owings Mills, Md.) from 2011-2015. She will join Bluffton’s coaching staff in December.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and beyond excited to be able to work with the student-athletes, administrators, and staff here at Bluffton,” said DeMoine. “I hope to develop this program beyond being a leader in the conference, while also continuing the longstanding tradition of helping these women develop into great human beings. I especially want to thank Phill Talavinia for his support and I cannot wait to get started.”
The 2010 Salisbury graduate made a 2009 appearance at the DIII national championships where her team finished fifth. She was a team captain in her senior year and a four-time member of the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic team while earning her bachelor’s degree in exercise science. DeMoine is currently completing a Master’s of Education in Coaching Education and Athlete Development from Xaxier University.
As an assistant coach, DeMoine’s responsibilities included coaching, recruiting, overseeing academic progress, assisting with strength and conditioning, and organizing travel. She also organized and ran clinics at Stevenson and Susquehanna as well as camps for USA Preps, Triple Crown and Five Star Athletics.
DeMoine is taking over for Marissa Rush who served as the softball coach for two years.
