New year, new you!
New Year, New YOU!
Welcome to the first Healthe Habits for Living (HHL) posting offering helpful hints and quick insights on how to become a healthier version of you.
"Hello, I’m Christine Schroeder, MOT, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist and Director of the HHL program, located at Ellerbrock Spine and Soft Tissue (ESST) in Bluffton."
After working for a number of years in business, I decided to go back to school; I received my Master's in Occupational Therapy (MOT) in 2015 from The University of Findlay. My husband and I live in Ottawa with our 3 children, ages 16 (daughter), 13 (son), and 10 (son).
We enjoy being active, whether it’s going to soccer games, cross country meets, running, hiking, or biking. My husband and I have completed 5 half marathons over the past 5 years and last year, actually started road biking; We completed RAIN (Ride Across Indiana) in which we rode a tandem bike 158 miles across the state of Indiana in one day!
I have worked in a variety of settings since receiving my MOT, including tele-heath (school-based), acute and outpatient, but my passion lies in health and wellness.
HHL is a therapy based program which offers effective strategies to maintaining a healthy lifestyle by taking a closer look at replacing health compromising habits with health promoting ones. In my one-on-one sessions with patients, we discuss unique solutions and offer a customized therapeutic exercise plan which incorporates healthier diet and exercise habits into daily living.
In this posting, we’ll begin by taking a look at one of the two leading causes of preventable deaths in America….can you guess what it is?
As always, feel free to give us a call anytime to set up your free 15 minute consultation to learn more about how to become the healthier you!
