Letter: BFR shoe drive collected 5,550 pair of shoes
Icon viewers:
Bluffton Family Recreation would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of our recent Shoe Drive Fundraiser.
Together we collected 222 bags of shoes (25 pairs each) for a grand total of 5, 550 pairs of shoes!!! By keeping all these shoes out of a landfill and instead sending them to 24 non-profits all over the world to be refurbished and used, BFR earned over $2,000, which will be used to enhance our facility and the programs offered by Bluffton Family Recreation.
We would especially like to thank the businesses that agreed to have a shoe collection box at their location – Village Cut and Curl, Spectrum Salon, Polished and the Bluffton Child Development Center.
We would also like to thank all the Main Street businesses that displayed our flyer about the Shoe Drive in their windows. Ebenezer Mennonite Church and St Mary’s Catholic Church each collected shoes. The Et Cetera Shop has been fantastic in contributing shoes that have not sold in its shop.
BFR staff helped to bag and move shoes along with community volunteers Sharon Davis, Jeanie Ream, Janette Reineke and John and Jenny Pilarowski. Fred Steiner handled publicity and photography for the drive. Ed Yeager organized a large group of volunteers to move the bags of shoes into the truck.
Of course we send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed shoes to the drive!
Bluffton Family Recreation is very thankful for the support this community shows to our organization. We look forward to working with everyone again next time.
Most Sincerely,
Bluffton Family Recreation
