Eileen Basinger was active in several Bluffton organizations
M. Eileen Basinger, 88, died Saturday morning, Jan. 27, 2018, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, Ohio. She was born on Jan. 4, 1930, to Arthur and Clara (Martin) Unverferth. They both preceded her in death. On April 29, 1950, Eileen married T. Forrest Basinger, and he preceded her in death.
Eileen is survived by one son, Randall Basinger of Ottawa; one daughter, Deborah (Duane) Bollenbacher of Bluffton; four grandchildren: Noah Wakeman of Westerville, Matthew (Natalia) Basinger of Northbrook, Ill., Bethany (Dr. John) Coburn of Davis, Calif., and Alexandra (Mark) Grandjean of San Francisco, Calif.; two step-grandchildren: Duanna (John) Osting and Spring Cutlip both of Troy; five great grandchildren: Zachary, Alexander and Mia Basinger of Northbrook, Ill., William and Evelyn Coburn of Davis, Calif.; seven step great grandchildren: Summer (Logan) Carey of Troy, Dakota Potts of Washington, D.C., twins - Jersey and Presley Cutlip of Troy, David, Matthew and Amelia Osting all of Troy; two step great great grandchildren: Autumn and Eden Carey of Troy and one sister: Sharon (Eugene) Ricker of Columbus Grove.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Susan Basinger; brothers: Thomas, Daniel and Melvin Unverferth and a sister: Phyllis Steffan.
Eileen was a graduate of Kalida High School. She was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, Bluffton, Bluffton Senior Citizens and the SHANNON Service Club. Eileen along with her husband, Forrest, worked together on the family farm outside of Columbus Grove. She was an avid card player and enjoyed politics.
Services will begin at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Carol Clements will officiate.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, and one hour prior to services on Saturday, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice and St. John's United Church of Christ, Bluffton.
