Flu shots available from Allen County Health Department
Allen County Public Health reminds the community that it is not too late to get a flu shot to help prevent the spread of the flu virus.
ACPH has flu vaccine available at no charge for children and adults who have no insurance. There is an administration fee, but no one will be turned away for their inability to pay.
Flu shots are available at Allen County Public Health on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 – 9 a.m., and from 3 – 4 p.m. while supplies last.
Vaccination is one of the CDC’s “Take 3” Actions to Fight the Flu: Vaccinate, Stop Germs and Use Antiviral Drugs if your doctor prescribes them.
Flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.
Stop germs by avoiding close contact with sick people, staying home if you are sick, covering your nose and mouth when you sneeze, washing your hands often with soap and water and cleaning surfaces that may be contaminated with flu virus, such as doorknobs and computer keyboards.
If you get the flu, take antiviral drugs that your doctor prescribes. Antiviral drugs can make the illness milder and shorten the time you are sick, and can prevent more serious complications.
