Local citizen advocacy group holds one-year celebration

AHEAD program Saturday in Bluffton town hall

Allen and Hardin for Election Action and Democracy (AHEAD), a local citizen advocacy group, will hold its one-year anniversary celebration from 6 to 8 p.m.,  Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Bluffton town hall.

"Over the past year, AHEAD has helped elect candidates, organized rallies, advocated for redistricting reform, and recruited hundreds of members," according to Maya Fischhoff of the organization.

The event is open to the public. It will include a presentation from Perry Bush, Bluffton University faculty member, who will speak about the role of citizen advocacy groups in the present political context.

In addition, Tina Ward Pugh, who served as this area's Democratic campaign organizer during the 2016 election, will speak.
