The Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) Program of Allen County Public Health recently partners with MOVE Safe Allen County to provide communication education for bike and pedestrian safety.

To assist these groups, the Icon invites viewers to click on the link and take a 10-question quiz.

Health District Advisory Council update
Joe Sehlhorst, Bluffton council member, is the village representative on its advisory council. At Monday’s Bluffton council session, Sehlhorst shared some  gloomy details of some Allen County health statistics:

He said that the health department’s preliminary 2019 budget request includes political subdivisions supporting 18% of the department’s budget of  $663,665. Sehlhorst told the council to anticipate a 3% increase in the village support of that budget.

Here are some of the county stats shared on Monday.
Allen County ranks 51st overall out of 88 Ohio counties in health
Based on four measures:
Behavior – 55th (habits like smoking, alcohol, obesity)
Clinical Care – 24th (access to care facilities)
Socio Economic – 48th (education, employment)
Physical Environment – 80th (housing, air and water, transportation)
