Spring at the Bluffton elementary
Two months to go and lots of activities are underway in April and May at the Bluffton Elementary. Here's a summary of events from the April elementary newsletter:
TESTING DAYS: Students in grades 3-5 will take the Ohio English Language Arts tests on April 12 and 13. They will take the Ohio Math tests on April 26 and 27. Fifth grade students will take the Ohio Science tests on May 1 and 2.
BOOK FAIR WEEK OF APRIL 23: The annual elementary spring Book Fair will be held April 23–27. The Book Fair will be open daily from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, (6-8 p.m.) is family night. This Book Fair is a Buy One/Get One Free (BOGO). The Book Fair will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 27. All proceeds provide books and materials for our library.
S.M.A.R.T. WEEK: Our special academic emphasis, “S.M.A.R.T.” week, is the week of May 7. The acronym letters stand for S-Social Studies, M-Math, A-Arts and Fitness, R- Reading, and T-Technology and Science.
Students will participate in special activities each day:
• On “Social Studies Day” students in each grade will work on a special project.
• “Math Day” will hold various math competitions at each grade level.
“Arts & Fitness Day” will feature “Field Day” where students will participate in games at Harmon Field and enjoy grilled hot dogs for their picnic lunch.
• On “Reading Day” a reading marathon is scheduled and students will be working on reading activities most of the day.
• On “Technology & Science Day” students will do research and perform scientific experiments in their classrooms.
P.T.O NEWS: The PTO thanks everyone who ordered spirit wear items. If you would still like to place an order you may do so online with The Scoreboard atwww.shopscoreboard.com through the end of April. Any orders placed in April will need to be store pick-up.

we will once again be having field day shirts. Look for information to come home very soon. Our next meeting will be Monday, April 9, at 8 p.m. in the teachers’ lounge.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: Any child who will be 5 by Aug. 1, 2018, is eligible to enroll. In order to develop a kindergarten mailing list, please contact the elementary office at 419-358-7951.
We will need the following information:
• child’s name
• birth date
• parents’ names
• address
• phone number.
You may send the information to [email protected]. All children are required to have their immunizations before starting school. The Allen County Health Department provides immunizations but appointments must be made. Its website is: allencountyhealthdepartment.org.
