Bluffton in Bloom invites volunteers to become involved
Bluffton in Bloom, now in its second year, is expanding its scope of awareness in the community. The committee seeks community volunteers to assist its efforts this year.
Bloom board members are Tom Schmidt, chair, Nancy Benroth, Denise Fett, Becky Ramey and Mark Simmons. Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, is the village liason to the board.
Bluffton in Bloom is affiliated with the national organization “America in Bloom.”
There are seven tenents that the committee strives to achieve and is judged on by national judges. These areas include:
• flowers
• landscaped areas
• celebrating heritage
• environmental effort
• community vitality
• overall impression
• urban forestry
Scoring is based on the entire Bluffton look. The committee intends to work hand in hand with the village, Tree Commission, the garden club, master gardeners and volunteers.
An army of volunteers is needed to address each of the seven tenants. Persons interested in volunteering or interested in more information should contact: [email protected]
