Louise Hankish, 1926-2018, was born in England
Louise M. Hankish, 92, died May 24, 2018, Bluffton Hospital. Louise was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Tetbury, England, to the late Charles and Edith (Minchin) Hart. On Nov. 3, 1945, she married Charles M. Hankish, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 4, 2000.
Louise was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bluffton. Louise enjoyed bird watching, flowers and visiting and talking with her family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Jana (Charles) Hughes of Bluffton, Alicia (Bob) Stevens of Maumee, Deena Stanger of The Woodlands, Texas; five grandchildren, Ross (Arianne) Hughes, Kayla (Travis) Swank, Jodi (J.J.) Szahlender, Kylie (Adam Goldschmidt) Stanger, Aubree Stanger; five great grandchildren, Jessa, Kenna and Mara Swank, Trent Caito, Evan Szahlender; and two sisters in law, Ruth Badertscher of Bluffton and Ruby Hart of Tetbury, England.
Louise was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Hart, Fred Hart, John Hart, Dave Hart, Harry Hart and a sister, Elizabeth Farmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton. Father John Stites officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services in Bluffton. A wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Apollo Career Center.
