The Bluffton Cattle Club met for their second meeting on April 15, 2018 at the Phillips house. All members were present. Community Service project ideas were talked about, but nothing was decided on.
Grace Myers gave a health report on tooth brushing. Landon Sehlhorst gave a safety report on bike safety. Hudson gave his demonstration on the by-products of the beef animal.
The entire club did our Quality Assurance training.
The meeting ended with delicious cupcakes and popcorn.
The third meeting of the year was held on May 20, 2018 at the Hilty house. The meeting started off with voting on a Community service project, and the club voted to try to take animals to the Mennonite Memorial Home in July. Then the club voted to hold a chicken BBQ dinner for a club fundraiser. We will have Ted's Market provide the dinners and hold the dinner at the Bluffton Sportmen's Club on Sunday July 22 from 11am to 1pm.
Riley Herriman gave her safety report on swimming and Sophie Zeller gave her health report on healthy breakfast ideas. Landon Sehlhorst did his demonstration on gun safety.
The meeting ended with really good snack of popcorn, candy and orange juice.
The fourth meeting was held on Sunday June 3, 2018 at the Goodman farm. The meeting started with Grace giving a health report on care for skin when in the sun. A safety report was not given tonight.
We talked about donating items for the silent auction, and who is able to donate. BBQ tickets were passed out to each member to sell for the club fundraiser. Branson Hilty did a demonstration on where different cuts of meat come from in a beef animal. Seth Gladwell gave a demonstration on the different breeds of steers. Brittany and Courtney Goodman did their demonstration together on the milking process for dairy cows.
The meeting ended with cool and good ice cream pops.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 21st for our club trip and lunch.
