It was Buckeye night
Even though there was a small University of Michigan contingent, the gentlemen of Maple Crest Senior Living Village, overwhelmingly showed their Buckeye Pride at the recent Men’s Banquet.
Nearly 60 residents and guests attended the event, aptly named “Buckeye Night,” and dined on ribs, mashed potatoes, baked beans and deviled eggs with football-shaped brownies for dessert!
Featured speaker was Lou Savage, referee, who talked about “Football Rules, and Memories of Coach Hayes, Tressel and Meyer.” Guests were also treated to a video showing of The Buckeyes’ 50 Greatest, and learned background on the tradition of Script Ohio.
Maple Crest elder Bill Ramseyer displayed his collection of football helmets and books that he has authored. Ramseyer was head football coach at Wilmington College from 1972-90 and at University of Virginia’s College at Wise from 1991-2001.
Doug Smith, who was instrumental in coordinating the banquet, showed off OSU paraphernalia and elder Bob Hower won the door prize, an OSU T-shirt. Special guest of elder Bob McCurdy was Aaron Krepps, football coach at Bluffton University.
The Men’s Banquet is held annually for residents of Maple Crest and their male guests. For more information about Maple Crest Senior Living Village and its programs, call 419-358-1015 or visit mhcoliving
