Judith Kingsley is the new president of the Swiss Community Historical Society. She was elected to the office during the society’s annual meeting at Swiss Day on June 24. Her term is three-years.
Other officers elected, also to three-year terms, are Gary Wetherill, vice president and John Burkhart, treasurer. Wetherill is the past president.
New board members, each with three-year terms are Burkhart, Paula Scott and Samantha Shrider. Board members with renewing three-year terms are Marvin Diller, Ron Lora and Wetherill.
The society has an on-going summer open house at its Swiss homestead. The homestead, at 8350 Bixel Road, Bluffton, is open from 1 to 5 p.m. each Saturday. Visitors may see the outdoor bake oven, 1850s garden, 1985 barn summer kitchen, workshop and the house, built in 1843.
Admission is $5 for adults. There is no charge for children 16 and under who are accompanied by an adult. Admission is also free for members of the Swiss Community Historical Society. SCHS memberships may be purchased on site. A membership application form is attached at the bottom of this story.
