Girls' soccer: 7 score in shutout against Grove

(COLUMBUS GROVE) - Bluffton's girls soccer team picked up their first win of the season with a 7-0 whooping of Columbus Grove. The Pirates sprinted out to a 4-0 halftime lead and added three more scores in the second half to earn the win.
BHS got first half goals from Rebekah Hoff, Reagan Mittendorf, Brinkley Garmatter and Sophia Smucker off assists from Kayla White (2), Hoff and Mittendorf. In the second half, Laykin Garmatter, Olivia Burner and Averey Rumer all found the net. Hoff & Mittendorf each gathered another assist in the second half.
The Pirates outshot the Bulldogs 28-2. Freshman keeper Riley Busch made 2 saves in goal for Bluffton, now 1-1-1 on the season. The Pirates had not played a game since Wednesday August 22 so it was good to get back on the pitch.
The Columbus Grove girls soccer team is not a full varsity sport just yet and they are in year two of a three year probationary years with the Northwest Conference. Grove is the final NWC school to field a girls soccer program.
