Four domestic violence reports, K-9 used in four searches; five illegal narcotic discoveries

From Bluffton's August police department log

During August Bluffton police responded to four domestic violence reports, used its K-9 unit on four searches and made five illegal narcotic discoveries. And, in one report, a person faces nine charges in Lima Municipal Court.

August 1
A Columbus Grove resident reported someone stole his identity to open an account at a local store.

August 2
A Spring Street resident reported an unknown person(s) entered her unattended vehicle and stole her purse from inside.

August 3
A Harmon Road resident reported an unknown person(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a purse from inside.

A Columbiaville, Michigan, resident reported an unknown person(s) entered his vehicle and stole items from inside.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Jackson Street at Grove Street.  Investigating officers requested canine assistance which resulted in a positive alert from the canine. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a small amount of illegal narcotics being located inside the vehicle.

Officers responded to a neighbor dispute in the 200 block of Cherry Street.

Officers responded to the 300 block of South Main Street in reference to a theft complaint.

Officers responded to the 200 block of South Lawn Avenue in reference to a theft complaint.

August 4
Officers responded to the 100 block of Bentley Road in reference to a theft complaint.

August 6
Officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Main Street and Vine Street for an equipment violation. Upon further investigation it was determined the driver was driving under suspension, Jalisa Gray, 24, Cincinnati, was issued a citation for driving under suspension and window tint. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in illegal narcotics and paraphernalia being present in the vehicle. The driver was also issued a citation for possession of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia. The cases are pending in Lima Municipal Court.

August 8
Officers responded to Bluffton Hospital in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

Officers arrested Kati A. Harner, 32, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 9000 block of North Dixie Highway. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

A Matterhorn Drive resident reported a vandalism complaint.

August 10
Officers arrested a Lima resident for receiving stolen property after he was located at a State Route 103 business in a vehicle that was reported stolen. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

Officers arrested Dakota L. Simon, 22, Lima, for driving under suspension following an interaction with the subject in the parking lot of a State Route 103 business.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Grove Street at Lawn Avenue.  Investigating officers requested canine assistance which resulted in a positive alert from the canine. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a small amount of illegal narcotics being located inside the vehicle.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Elm Street at North Main Street.  Investigating officers requested canine assistance which resulted in a positive alert from the canine. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a small amount of illegal narcotics being located inside the vehicle.

August 11
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of County Line Road and East Elm Street for a speeding violation. Officer received consent to search the vehicle resulting in drug paraphernalia being located in the vehicle.

August 12
Officers arrested Dana R. SimmsHunt, 24, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of South Main Street at Poplar Street for a stop sign violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

August 13
A Campus Drive resident reported an unknown person(s) entered his vehicle and stole items from inside.

A Grove Street resident reported fraudulent activity on his credit card.

August 14
A Kibler Street resident reported an unknown person(s) stole her bicycle from a rack on Church Street.

Officers arrested Joseph R. Siebeneck Jr., 26, Leipsic, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the area of Main Street and County Line Road for improper display. The case is pending in Findlay Municipal Court.

August 17
A Matterhorn Drive resident reported she was receiving threatening text messages.

August 18
Officers took a domestic violence report from a Jackson Street resident.

August 20
A College Avenue resident reported an altercation via text message between himself and another subject that was threatening in nature.

August 24
Officers responded to an Ethan Circle residence in reference to a domestic violence complaint.

August 25
Officers arrested David Malaquis, 24, Bluffton, for OVI following a traffic stop near the university on College Avenue for an improper turn violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

Officers received a report of a suspicious person in a downtown business.

A Spring Street resident reported an assault.

Officers received a complaint of domestic violence. After investigating, a Bluffton resident was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Justice Center for domestic violence. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the northbound I-75 entrance ramp from State
Route 103. Investigating officers requested canine assistance which resulted in a positive alert from the canine. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in a small amount of illegal narcotics being located inside the vehicle along with a pellet gun in the glove compartment.

Officers arrested Paul D. Mainville, Jr., Huber Heights, for OVI and resisting arrest following a traffic stop in the area of Harmon Road and Bentley Road for a moving violation. A total of nine charges were filed and the cases are pending in Lima Municipal Court.

August 27
A Jefferson Street resident reported a telephone harassment complaint.

August 28
Officers received a complaint of telephone harassment from a Snider Road business.

August 29
Officers arrested Zoe Benroth, 19, Lima, for OVI following a traffic stop in the area of Harmon Road and Bentley Road for an equipment violation. The driver was also cited for possession of paraphernalia and having an open container in the vehicle. The cases are pending in Lima Municipal Court.

August 30
Officers arrested Gabriel Downing, 35, Lima, for driving under suspension following a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Main Street for an equipment violation. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
