Help needed - Bluffton Child Development Center playgound is bare
Bluffton Child Development Center’s playground is bare, according to Francine Donathan, director.
“Our playground equipment was over 26 years old and has been mended many times over the years,” she told the Icon. “It became unrepairable, and had to be removed."
Because of that the children at BCDC, 325 County Line Road, do not have outdoor climbing equipment.
“Since we are a tuition-based non-profit organization, we rely on the kindness and support of our community,” she said, adding that the center has tried for many grants and has not succeeded.
“The playground equipment needed will cost about $55,000,” she said. It needs to be a commercial playground for youth ages 2 to 12.
Donathan said that there are additional needs at the center.
“We would love to have the money to put a new surface down – for instance fall resistant mats. The toddler area could use some help as well,” she said.
Individuals and organizations interesting in assisting can contact or visit Donathan at Bluffton Child Development Center, 419-358-8222.
Bluffton Child Development accepts accept children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age. It has an Infant room class, Toddler room class, Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten class plus a before- and after-school latch key program.
The center is open Monday through Friday 6:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed on major holidays.
