Philip Sprunger was a retired educator
Philip David Sprunger, 75, died Oct. 4, 2018, at his residence in Bluffton. Philip was born Oct. 10, 1942 in Berne, Indiana, to the late Donald and Mary Jane (Nussbaum) Sprunger. On July 23, 1966, he married Janice Smith Sprunger who survives in Bluffton.
Philip graduated from Berne French High School, obtained his bachelor's degree from Bluffton College and his master's degree from St. Francis College. He had been an educator and guidance counselor at Leipsic and Patrick Henry Schools.
Philip was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton. He was a previous member of the Mennonite Memorial Home Board, past Kiwanis member and coach.
Survivors include his wife Janice; three daughters, Angela Mary Sprunger of Pandora, Jodi (Joel) Conley of Bluffton, Janni (Steve) Keller of Castalia, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Bonnie) Sprunger of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and two sisters, Regina Steiner of Berne, Indiana and Jane Bean of Newark, Ohio.
Philip was preceded in death by a grandchild, Cole Keller.
Services will begin at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton. Pastors Jim King and Dick Potter officiating. Private burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1 - 4 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Mennonite Church or Bluffton Weekday Christian Education (Release Time).
