Mildred Burkholder was retired from Bluffton Hospital
Mildred B. Burkholder, 84, of Bluffton died at 10:50 a.m., Oct. 15, 2018, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Millie was born Nov. 15, 1933 in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Lacy and Cloie (Lemaster) Brown. On Aug. 24, 1957, she married David E. Burkholder who preceded her in death on May 10, 2004.
Millie was employed at Bluffton Hospital and upon retirement served as a hospital volunteer. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Millie was a 1953 graduate of Ada High School. She enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to WTGN, sewing, flower gardening, growing African violets, and baking breads and rolls.
Survivors include four children, Keith (Barbie Prince) Burkholder of Lima, Laura Burkholder of Tampa, Florida, Susan (Everett) Collier of Bluffton, Kevin (Gina) Burkholder of Bluffton; three granddaughters, Kendra (Matt) Lugibihl, Chelsea Burkholder, Mariah (Addison) Diller; two step-granddaughters, Ashley (Jabari) Garland, Alee Gratz-Collier; three great granddaughters, Ava, Brynn, Briell Lugibihl; two step-great grandsons Cole and Ellis Garland; five sisters, Bureeda Hackworth, Betty Wallen, Viola Wilson, Elwanda Hastings, Judi Ludwig; two brothers, Clyde Brown, Larry Brown; two sisters-in-law, Joan Dailey, Jean Reichenbach; one brother-in-law Don (Dorothy) Burkholder.
Millie was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus A. Hughes and brothers, Eugene Brown and Willis Brown.
A private burial will take place in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
