Holiday fever takes its toll at Bluffton schools
Bluffton schools are busy now until the holiday break starts on Friday, Dec. 21. Here’s an update of December activities in the school taken from the school website
Elementary
The Christmas service project is “Coins for Kids!” Students, faculty and staff are involved in a coin drive to raise money to “Leukemia and Lymphoma” for Christmas. Coin collection goes until Thursday, Dec. 13.
Stop by Community Market to enjoy Dr. Seuss-inspired holiday artwork created by elementary students.
• First graders designed whimsical Christmas trees.
• Second graders painted bulbs in primary and secondary colors. They worked together to make wreaths from painted bulbs.
• Third graders created Whoville-inspired stockings.
• Fourth graders examined the architecture of Whoville and created their own buildings and houses.
• Fifth graders students practiced the art of typography while designing ornaments with phrases from the book, “The Grinch who Stole Christmas.”
Middle school
Here’s the plan for Holiday Spirit Week, Dec. 17 to 21:
Monday - Merry Christmas Morning (Dress in your Christmas PJ’s)
Tuesday - Santa’s Workshop (Dress like Santa, Elves, Reindeer, Toys)
Wednesday - Color Block Day (Dress in Holiday Colors - Red, Green, Gold, Silver)
Thursday - Ugly Christmas Sweater (Wear your Favorite Christmas Sweater)
D.A.R.E. skating party takes place Monday, Dec. 17, at Edgewood Skating Arena from 6-8 p.m. Admission $3/ skates$1.50 or $3. More information is in the middle school office.
High School
Aluminum cans may be dropped off at the high school Jackson Street entrance on Thursday, Dec. 13, from 7:30-8 a.m.
SADD will sponsor a Christmas dance after the Friday, Dec. 14, home basketball game until 11 p.m. The best Christmas sweater will win a $20 gift card of choice and the runner up will win a medium pizza. Admission is $3. SADD members get in free. There will be food, games and prizes.
