Woodcock watch, hound hike and terrific turtles
Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District announces three program for late March and early April.
A woodcock watch at McLean Teddy Bear Park takes place at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 26. Be prepared to a hike in the wet woods.
Dog owners are encouraged to take their dog for a walk at Hermon Woodlands Metro Park from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. To take part in this Hound Hike, dogs must be on a leash, up-to-date on shots and friendly with other dogs. Be sure to check in for a trail map and receive a prize from That Place For Pets.
Join Nature Pals at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, at the McElroy Environmental Education Center where you and your preschooler can get up close to turtles. The Park District has a couple of resident turtles. Nature Pals is a program for preschoolers and their parents to learn about nature. The program lasts about an hour, and includes singing a song, enjoying a craft project or game, and going on a short walk in the park woods (weather permitting).
