Paving on West Elm Street starts on Thursday

West Elm Street project is one step closer to completion.
Hohenbrink Contractors will begin paving the street on Thursday - originally announced as Friday - according to Bryan Lloyd, assistant village administrator.
He told the Icon that the contractor will apply the base course Thursday and that motorists should avoid West Elm Street to allow ccontractors to work quickly and safely.
In other village news, the village of Bluffton has an opening for a fiscal officer. Mayor Richard Johnson has accepted the resignation of Laura Ewing, fiscal officer, who has accepted a new position.
Her last day will be May 24, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.
Ewing was hired as fiscal officer on Sept. 6, 2017. She replaced Nancy Kindle, who resigned on Aug. 14. Kindle was village fiscal officer from 2006 to 2017.
