Lady Pirate kickers fall to Bath

Visiting Bath defeated Bluffton 7-2 in a girls soccer match Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Pirate kickers fell to 0-2 after the loss.
Bath's Rachel Clark netted three goals in the first 21 minutes to help the visitors race to a 4-0 lead.
Bluffton's Reagan Mittendorf scored in the 30th minute to get the Pirates on the scoreboard. Teammate Kayla White then tallied another goal in the final minute of the first half to cut the deficit to 5-2 just before intermission.
Neither team scored for most of the second half. But then Wildcat Ainsley Miller netted her second goal in the 69th minute to put the game out of reach.
Clark added her fourth goal a minute later to provide the final margin of victory.
Alexis Hammons found the back of the net in the 33rd minute to tally the other Bath girl.
Bath fired off 23 shots, 17 of which were on goal. Ten of Bluffton's 17 shots made it on goal.
Bluffton was credited with 10 saves while Bath made six stops.
Bluffton returns to action Tuesday, August 27 at Van Buren with a varsity/JV doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. The Lady Pirates then host Ada August 29 in the NWC opener.
