Pirate girls shut out by unbeaten Ashland Crestview

BLUFFTON - Playing their second Crestview opponent in a row, the Bluffton girls soccer team lost 1-0 to visiting Ashland Crestview in a non-conference defensive struggle Wednesday evening.
The Lady Pirates fell to 9-6-1 with the defeat, two days after they beat league foe Convoy Crestview 5-0. The powerhouse Lady Cougars improved to 15-0-1 with the win.
AC's Carley Campo scored the game's only goal five minutes into the match via an assist by Kat Leeper. Both defenses kept the offenses off the scoreboard for the final 75 minutes.
Bluffton aimed 10 of its 17 shots on goal. Crestview directed eight of its 12 shots at the Pirate keeper.
Ashland Crestview keeper Maddalyn Aumend made 10 saves to preserve the shutout. Seven saves were recorded by the Pirates.
Second-place Bluffton (4-1 NWC) hosts winless league foe Delphos Jefferson (0-15, 0-4 NWC) Thursday, October 10 at 5 p.m. in the conference/regular season finale.
Second-seeded Ashland Crestview hosts Ada in first round girls sectional soccer action Tuesday, Oct. 15.
