Matt Daws, Jonathan Schriner second team all-state

DEFIANCE - The state runner-up Bluffton boys soccer team placed two players on the 2019 Division III All-Ohio team in voting recently conducted by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Bluffton senior defender Matt Daws and junior midfielder Jonathan Schriner were each named second team all-state. Both Pirates were also voted first team All-Northwest district.
The Pirates finished 18-3-2 and advanced to the state finals, where they lost to Columbus Wellington 4-0.
Junior defender John Kight of Ottawa Hills, the state poll regular season champion, was voted Ohio boys Div. III Player of the Year.
Ryan MacRaild of Independence was named Div. III Coach of the Year.
