Very busy year for Bluffton EMS
Bluffton EMS transported 375 patients to area hospitals in 2019, according to Jan Basinger, EMS chief. And, it responded to 447 calls within the village of Bluffton and 99 outside the village.
“We were very busy this year,” Basinger told The Icon. “With nearly 400 transported patients, this is the most in my 28 years of service.”
The 2019 figures compare to 2018 when 358 patients were transported to hospitals and EMS responded to 403 calls within the village and 98 outside the village.
July had the greatest number of calls at 50; February the lowest at 36.
Chief Basinger provided the Icon with several additional year-end statistics that confirm a busy year for the squad.
Two attachments at the bottom of this story show response times, monthly runs, locations of runs and transportation destinations, plus number of calls for service each year since 2011.
