Garage sale season starts in 2 weekends
Garage sale season arrives in Bluffton at the end of the month.
The community hosts two giant garage sales with the SHANNON Service Club’s two-day sale and Bluffton Senior Center’s three-day sale. Here are the details:
SHANNON Service Club sale
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, and from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 29, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton. This is the 17th annual club sale. The sale includes dozens of tables from vendors who will offer a large assortment of items.
From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday is a Ted’s Market chicken barbecue. The meal includes one-half chicken, baked potato, green beans and a dinner roll. You may eat in or carry out.
Tickets for the barbecue are $8.50 each. Tickets are limited and are on sale at the door while supplies last. Call 419-358-0486 or any SHANNON Service Club member for advance tickets.
A barbecue ticket enables the purchaser free admission to the garage sale. Otherwise, admission is $1, children 12 and under, admitted free.
Persons interested in booth space may call 419-233-2757. Booths are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Senior Citizens sale
The sale is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, and Friday, Feb. 28. Saturday, Feb. 29, hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Monday March 2, whatever is left over is half price until 2 p.m.
The sale is at the Senior Center, 132 N. Main St. The Center will close on Wednesday to prepare for the sale.
The Senior Center sale includes donated items from members. Senior citizens are often in a state of downsizing from a house to an apartment, or condo to assisted living. The Center is one place where they can pass on possessions and it helps fund the Center.
The Center does not take clothing or shoes, but the sale always has plenty of kitchen gadgets, collectables, decorations, tools, books, puzzles, music and movies. This year there are many antiques and some furniture.
